The Walkers have strived to treat Celtic design as a living tradition and are proud to continue that tradition as another generation enters the family business. Andrew Walker, the son of Walker Metalsmiths founders Stephen and Susan Walker will be opening a new gallery of Celtic jewelry and artifacts at the Corner of Park Avenue and Meigs Street in Rochester, New York. The expected opening date is June 9, 2007.
Andrew was born the same week as his father’s Master of Fine Arts thesis show. Even as a young child he helped out with the family business. He grew up in a world of Dad’s workshop, traveling to arts festivals and craft shows with the occasional adventures to Scotland and Ireland to renew the family connections to the heritage that inspires their designs. A graduate of the University of Buffalo, Andrew settled in Rochester in 2006.
Walker’s Celtic Jewelry will feature the original Celtic designs of Walker Metalsmiths, as well as the work of some of the other leading Celtic craftsmen from around the world. This will be the first permanent retail location the offer the Walkers entire range outside the studio showroom on Main Street in Andover. Walker Metalsmiths was established in 1984 in Andover, NY, 90 miles south of Rochester. They have been a leader in Celtic wedding rings, and Celtic crosses and offer a wide range of other designs in gold, silver and platinum.
